Yoga Mamas Pregnancy Classes and Preparing for Birth Workshops help you and your birth partner prepare physically, mentally and emotionally for birth and beyond in a calm, relaxed, fun and friendly environment.
Through regular practice, essential techniques are remembered by the body automatically through muscle memory and in our sub-conscious, thus helping in many cases to promote a smooth and easier birth.
Classes encompass:
- Poses & sequences based on traditional Hatha and Scaravelli inspired yoga;
- Mindfulness, breathing & relaxation for pregnancy and birth preparation;
- Focusing on listening to the body, following our instincts and releasing tensions;
- Releasing negative beliefs and fears, by practicing positive affirmations and visualisations; and
- Giving you information & signposting, so you can make informed, confident decisions along your journey.
These are very popular sessions, helping you feel balanced, calm, re-charged and nourished. So please email to book your first session and then you can just drop in after that.
We have Pregnancy Yoga classes in the daytime, evenings and at weekends; six days of the week:
Yoga Mamas Pregnancy Yoga (all with Clare Maddalena)
Tuesdays 6.00 – 7.30pm
Wednesdays 6.00 – 7.30pm
Thursdays 11.00 – 12.30pm
Saturdays 12.00 – 1.30pm
Sundays 10.30 – 12.00 noon (with Charlie Quan)
All classes are 1.5 hours long, £10 drop in or you can purchase 10 classes for £85 (to use over 3 months, giving you lots of flexibility).
Starting yoga is no different to starting any
other form of exercise – the same advice applies. If you are not used to regular exercise then you should start slowly from 16 weeks. However if you have an existing yoga practice you can come along earlier if you feel ready and body aware. If unsure, check with your doctor or midwife.
Specialist 1-2-1 sessions are also on offer to suit your specific needs. Email for details.
Also pregnant mums-to-be, who also have little ones, you are welcome to the Parent & Child class – a nice chance to practice with your little one and your bump! Wednesdays 9.30-10.30am (with Leonie Taylor)
